Clínica Alemana Will Implement an Innovative Rescue System at the 2025 Santiago Marathon

The 2025 Santiago Marathon will feature a state-of-the-art medical response system, thanks to a partnership with Clínica Alemana, the event’s new official medical partner. This agreement ensures comprehensive medical coverage for the 33,000 runners, with cutting-edge technology and a team of more than 200 specialized professionals stationed along the 42-kilometer course.

Dr. Álvaro Mardones, an emergency medicine specialist at Clínica Alemana and Medical Director of the event, emphasized:“We are committed to the well-being of the runners, and for that reason, we will deploy our first-rate rescue and prehospital care system. We have fully equipped ambulances and state-of-the-art technology that will allow us to respond quickly to any emergency at any point along the route.”

The medical team will consist of specialists in fields such as cardiology, sports medicine, and orthopedics, as well as nurses, physical therapists, and highly trained technicians. The logistics include:

  • 14 medical tentsstrategically located.
  • An800 m² main care center.
  • 10 motorcycles and bicycles equipped with automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
  •  8 ambulances coordinated through a geolocation system.

In addition, staff will use body-worn cameras with real-time streaming to ensure efficient communication and an immediate response to any incident.
